For International Coordinators

Your Checklist:

  1. Please check the IHY Science Coordination Database for registered participants in your country and encourage your colleagues to enter their information in the database, located at /science/science.shtml.
  2. Please update the list of participating observatories to reflect your country's instrumentation. The list is currently at http://ihy2007.org/science/ihy_obs.shtml. Send updates to Barbara J. Thompson. Additionally, we need an "Observatory Representative" for each observatory or instrument, who will serve as a point of contact for coordinated observations and campaigns. As you identify observatory representatives, please send their contact information as well.
  3. You may eventually want to set up a website for your national IHY activities. This website should be hosted by a web domain in your own country, but if you are unable to identify an appropriate server, please contact us and we will provide assistance. We are able to provide you with an IHY National website template, which will allow you to provide contact and coordination information, and post national activities. Please contact emilie@ihy.gsfc.nasa.gov if you would like assistance in developing your website, and please email ihy@ihy.gsfc.nasa.gov to be sure that the website is linked to the IHY main page.
  4. We have email lists for coordination purposes, please let us know if you'd like to set one up for your national coordination efforts.
  5. If you have any meetings (scientific or otherwise) that you will be attending which will be relevant to IHY, please let us know so we can add it to the IHY Events Page. Additionally, if you will be hosting an IHY information session, town hall meeting, or if there is a special session on IHY, please let us know so we can reflect this on the events page.
  6. We are in the process of developing our activities with the United Nations Basic Space Science Program. IF you have any experience working with this organization or any other national space science organization, please let us know. We would like to benefit from your experience!
  7. We have an "IHY Overview" presentation and other resources which we encourage IHY participants to use as a tool for communicating with colleagues. We try to update it regularly.

Thank you again for participating in IHY! 2007 will be a very exciting year!
