The IHY International Advisory Committee advises the IHY team on issues of international coordination, planning, and connectivity with international scientific organizations and activities. This group serves as a consultant body to help optimize the relationship between the goals and efforts of IHY and other international groups.

The International Advisory Committee counsels the IHY teams on these issues, while the IHY International Steering Committee (see the IHY Organizational Structure) has the responsibility of ensuring the implementation of these recommendations and overseeing the operations within IHY.
