HELIOPHYSICS PICTURE OF THE WEEK Planetary Atmospheres Earth isn't the only planet that can have an aurora. The field of comparative aeronomy allows us to learn about the Earth's atmospheric processes by comparing with other planetary bodies, such as Saturn and the moons of Jupiter. IHY OBSERVATORY OF THE WEEK Cassini-Huygens Moons, rings, and one mighty interesting planet. The Cassini-Huygens Mission studies Saturn and its moons using a wide range of instrumentation and probes. IHY PERSONALITY OF THE WEEK Dr. Jean-Louis Bougeret Dr. Jean-Louis Bougeret is the very busy co-organizer of IHY-Europe. Europe is a very large region for IHY, with 23 active nations and one sub-region, and many IHY team members will be participating in the upcoming IHY 2nd European General Assembly in June. Additionally, IHY-Europe spearheaded the IHY Open Doors Day the weekend of June 10, which invites people from around the world to visit observatories and institutes involved in IHY. IHY ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK IHY Open Doors Day More than 70 institutes and observatories are participating in a special event, IHY Open Doors Day. Although the idea originated in Europe, the activity is spreading to other continents. This is a great opportunity to learn about IHY and heliophysics, and meet some of our researchers in person! Find an event near you. (Check the site for updates - if there is not an event near you, perhaps the next Open Door Day will have one!)
