A Physics Moment

The IHY-Yemen National Committee holds monthly workshops to plan IHY events and activities. In May, the theme was "Celebrating IHY by demonstrating that physics is present in each moment of our lives," and they hosted a special event at the the Faculty of Science at Sana'a University in collaboration with the French Cultural Center in Sana'a, with 18 interactive experiments and participants from around the country. ACE

The Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) is nearing its tenth anniversary of studying the solar wind and interplanetary medium. The observations from the first Lagrange point between the Earth and the Sun allow us an optimal view of the space phenomena that are approaching Earth!

Abdul Haq Sultan

How many physicists have their own newspaper column? The very dedicated leader of IHY-Yemen, Professor Abdul Haq Sultan, has published more than 500 articles in local newspapers, including his weekly column "A Little Bit of Logic." His experience as the leader of Yemen's extremely successful World Year of Physics program has been useful in implementing Yemen's many scientific and educational activities for IHY.
