Venue and Duration

The 2nd Annual National Workshop focused on International Heliophysical Year in Nigeria and was held at Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria, 19-21 July 2006.

Workshop Host

The Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) hosted the 2nd Annual National Workshop on the International Heliophysical Year (IHY) 2007. TASUED, a relatively young growing University, formerly Tai Solarin College of Education was recently, 2004, upgraded to University status by the Ogun state University. The Department of Physics and Mathematics is based in the College of Science and Information Technology of the University.

Workshop Sponsors

The Workshop was co-sponsored by International Secretariat of the International Heliophysical Year, TASUED, Space Science Popularisation in Nigeria (SPACESPiN) an NGO, National Association of Physics Students, Federal University of Technology, Akure Chapter, and the IHY Nigeria office.

The International Secretariat of the International Heliophysical Year provided us with many educational posters, three-dimensional cards of Space Weather and SOHO, CDs of SOHO, Dynamic Sun and IHY golden pendants. These were distributed to the participants.

TASUED provided us with the venue of meeting, OGD auditorium, and technical support during the workshop. The LOC printed announcement fliers and produced workshop folders.

The IHY-Nigeria National Secretariat provided the logistics, mail exchange between the invited speakers, electronic adverts, protocols, and mobilization of populace.

The National Association of Physics Students, Federal University of Technology, and Akure Chapter released the multimedia projector system used for presentation at no cost.

SPACESPiN, a non governmental organization assisted in the popularization of the IHY activities.
