Observations

    Providing Observations for WHI: Yes
    Observatory: IBEX
Type of Observation: All Sky ENA images of heliosphere
Coverage for WHI: ENAs 10 - 6000 eV
    Observation Location for WHI:
Observation Plans for WHI: IBEX will provide the first all sky images in ENAs of the heliospheric boundary (termination shock and heliosheath). The images will have a 6 month cadence. Data taking will start approx. August 2008. In view of the fact that solar wind takes approx. 1 year to reach the termination shock (TS) and ENAs take between about 5 months and 2 years, depending on their energy, to come to 1 AU from the TS, the ENA images taken in 2009 and 2010 will provide complementary observations to the planned WHI.
