Workshop Purpose

The Whole Heliosphere Interval is an international coordinated observing and modeling effort to characterize the 3-dimensional interconnected solar-heliospheric-planetary system. The first WHI workshop, the WHI Modeling and Data Assessment Workshop, was held in August 2008 and gathered observers and modelers focusing on areas throughout the heliosphere. The WHIDMAW had very few presentations, and was dedicated to working group activities. This workshop produced many exciting results, culminating in several papers and special sessions on WHI at scientific meetings.

WHI2 will build on the progress from WHIDMAW, and will consist of presentations on the results of WHI data and modeling efforts, as well as working group activities. A special issue of a refereed journal will feature the scientific results from this workshop and any other relevant WHI-related research.

All WHI Participants are encouraged to attend! An observer or modeler who did not participate in the original campaign or the WHIDMAW may still choose to contribute to WHI at the WHI2 workshop.
